Our story begins back in the late 70s when Bill Bentz bought the Farmers Wholesale dealership in Utica, OH from Russ Hickman.  Bill continued to carry the Sperry New Holland hay and forage equipment line the dealership had originally started with.  In 1986, when Ford bought New Holland and formed Ford New Holland, the dealership had acquired its first ever tractor line.  To accommodate the Ford New Holland tractor Line, Bill had to move the dealership to a larger facility.  That is when the dealership moved to Columbus Road in Mount Vernon, next to Producer’s Livestock Sale Barn. It is only appropriate that with a change in location comes a change in name.  The name was changed to Mount Vernon Tractor.  Being right next to a livestock sale barn, the prime location helped jump start the business.  Through the next 16 years, the models of tractors and hay equipment came and went.  In 2002, Mount Vernon Tractor sold to Frank Sidwell, who also owned Muskingum Tractor in Zanesville and Morgan Tractor in Caldwell.

It was not until 2013, that the Lybarger Family took a leap of faith and purchased Mount Vernon Tractor.  Their first order of business was to start with a fresh name, which became Advantage Ag & Equipment.  Much like Bill, when he took on the tractor line, Advantage Ag began to grow in all facets of the business.  The customer base grew, the inventory grew, and it seemed that even the actual sizes of the equipment grew.  It was time to move to a facility that could handle the rapid growth.  Almost one year to the day, after opening as Advantage Ag, we moved to our current location on Harcourt Road.

In 2015, Muskingum and Morgan Tractor joined the Advantage Ag network.  Between the fall of 2015 and the summer of 2017, Muskingum and Morgan tractor were consolidated into Advantage Ag and Equipment in Mount Vernon, making for one giant superstore.

It is our hope that with the support of our friends, family, customers and community we will continue to grow so we can provide the level of service that our customers deserve.  Advantage Ag & Equipment is here, now and in the future, to keep you in the fields and on the jobsite!
